Comments are closed. Here is what happens next.

More than 1,200 comments reached the FAA before the October 2 deadline, and the FAA has said it will consider every one before it finalizes the rule. The temporary restriction is in effect until October 20.

The public comment period on the FAA’s proposal to make the Mar-a-Lago airspace restriction permanent closed at 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Friday, October 2, 2026. More than 1,200 comments reached the FAA before the deadline.1 Thank you to everyone who wrote.

What the FAA has committed to. The proposal says the FAA will consider every comment received by the deadline before it finalizes the rule, and that it may change the rule in light of them.2

What happens next. The temporary restriction is in effect until October 20, 2026.2 The FAA reviews the comments before it issues a final rule. We will report what it decides, and what residents can do about it.
